Candace Schoner is on a mission to end the stigma of mental illness using her background in journalism along with her own experiences coping with mental health issues. As a child of an alcoholic, Candace's user her podcast to inspire and provide a safe forum for others to share their mental health stories.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Candace was the youngest of four siblings. Her father was seldom home and when he was, Candace lived in fear of his excessive drinking and violent outburst which led to her PTSD diagnosis.


Throughout her childhood, she also struggled with body image and social skills making her an easy target for bullies. This reinforced her desire to keep to herself and remain closed-lipped about her personal life - until now.

​Candace graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, TV and Film; and a double minor in Journalism and Theater.

While in college, Candace interned for MetroMedia News in Washington, DC. where she began a 10 year career in broadcast news. After graduating college, she worked for NBC's international affiliate (ITNA), NBC Today Show and Nightly News. 

Following her career in broadcast news, Candace worked as a television production manager at St. John's University and eventually went onto a successful career in advertising and marketing. She currently runs Schoner Communications, a boutique agency specializing in marketing and content creation for start-ups, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. 


When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her two rescue dogs and cat, playing tennis, and hiking the Monticello trail.
